Fanatical Muslims want us dead. That is a fact. Our government has responded to that threat by turning the TSA in to a bunch of gropers and child molesters. In addition to feeling up little children we have stories of a beast cancer survivor who was forced to remove her prosthetic breast and a bladder cancer survivor who was treated so roughly and inhumanely that his urostomy bag leaked urine all over him.
Travellers and non-travellers alike have reacted with outrage. Janet Napolitano on the other hand has reacted to complaints with a shrug and a "go pound sand". This in turn has led to National Opt Out Day. Flyers are being urged to opt out of the full body scans on the day before Thanksgiving, the busiest travel day of the year. I have a better idea. I got it while watching Stephen Green, Scott Ott and Stephen Kruiser discuss the TSA on Trifecta. Listen to what Janet Napolitano doesn't say when asked if women wearing hijab will be subjected to full body scans and pat downs:
Janet Napolitano doesn't affirm that women in hijabs and burkas will be subjected to the same indignities as other travellers. We are expected to "show our all" if we want to fly but Muslim women, because of their religious convictions, the same religious convictions sited by jihadis as justification for killing us, well, Napolitano gets a little, in the words of Scott Ott, "squishy".
I say a test is in order. Don't opt out-wear a burka. Man, woman and child. Tell TSA that your convictions won't allow full body scans or feel ups. What are they going to do-say that you can't be Muslim because of your eye color or name? That is "profiling" and we all know profiling is strictly verboten.
Make a statement.

TSA: Enforcing equality by treating all of us equally like crap
Writing in the Washington Examiner, Mark Hemmingway has an immodest proposal:
It has been pointed out numerous times that Israel, a country with a permanent bull's eye on it, feels no compulsion to subject its citizens to intrusive security measures. The Israelis know who their enemies are and they concentrate their efforts on those who would do them harm. Our government can't even admit that we have enemies much less bring themselves to name them. As a result we have three year olds molested in airports with the full approval of the United States government.
The insanity has filtered down to Florida. We have a huge problem with illegal aliens here. Our state doesn't want to be accused of "profiling" when issuing driver's licenses so it has instituted a new set rules for everyone in the state that ensures that we will all be inconvenienced together without regard to citizenship, national origin or common sense. In January, when I renew my license, I will be required to provide the state with a long list of documents, including a certified copy of my marriage license, a document I gleefully burned twenty-eight years ago. I will be required to do this despite the fact that I have been a legal resident and driver in this state for over twenty-five years. This all speaks to government's unwillingness to deal with specific problems.
So we will jump through hoops and suffer indignities while travelling, whether flying cross-country or just driving in our own damn state. We won't be any safer and illegals will continue to pour across our borders but the government rulemakers will remain smug in the knowledge that they have treated us all equally. Equally like crap.
The President and his family — preferably with DHS Secretary Janet “The system worked” Napolitano — should show up at Dulles or Reagan airport on a weekday with a camera crew in tow, as airport pat downs are typically done in full view of hundreds of travelers. All of America will to see the TSA handling the President’s crown jewels. Then a rubber-gloved federal agent will run his hands all over his wife and daughter’s privates while he watches. Then I want him to turn to the camera and tell all of America that this is no big deal and we should all be good citizens and comply with the necessary security procedures.Well, I guess “fair” don’t feed the puppy. The One and his family are not subject to the rules of mere mortals and neither, it would appear, are Muslim women, who according to CAIR, should be exempt from TSA feel-ups on religious grounds. I have no such qualms. I simply prefer to pick and chose whom I allow to get touchy feely, and call me old fashioned, but I refuse to be groped unless I’ve been treated to a decent dinner and movie first. A girl has to have standards.
It only seems fair.

Contradiction Alert!
"The National Guard is not designed to be a substitute for civilian law enforcement,” Napolitano said. “Civilian law enforcement is being ‘plussed-up’ at record rates. And it’s being ‘plussed up’ all along the border. It’s being backed up by state of the art technology and it’s being backed up by infrastructure and that’s the way you have a secure border area.”Napolitano believes that immigration control should be left to civilian forces unless like Arizona the state wants its civilian force to handle the problem in which case it is the federal government's responsibility although the federal government won't take reponsibility. Are we all clear on that?
Janet Napolitano on September 17, 2010
“The Arizona immigration law will likely hinder federal law enforcement from carrying out its priorities of detaining and removing dangerous criminal aliens..."

Not Exactly Confidence Inspiring
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on our border security:
Napolitano goes on to put the cart before the horse by saying that we should be focusing on theillegals immigrants already here and then we can worry about securing the border. Forgive me but it seems that anyone with an IQ higher than their pulse rate should know that reverting to the same old "amnesty for all" plan while leaving the borders essentially wide open ensures that a steady stream of illegals immigrants will continue to pour in unabated. But maybe that is the Administration's plan.
Dan Riehl posts a YouTube titled Is Janet Napolitano a Liar? I believe the answer is yes and incompetent to boot.
"It is as safe and secure as it's ever been,..."and this gem:
...the Obama administration has shown an "absolute laserlike focus on that border."Funny, I hadn't noticed. Or as they would say in my little town, Janet Napolitano es muda como roca.

David Broder: President of the Janet Napolitano Fan Club
I came back from mini vacation to Largo on an emotional high. I can’t think of a better way to recharge and regroup than spending time with dear friends. Kara and Damon were incredible hosts and even though it had been over two decades since we had seen each other, we picked up right where we left off. Then I had my “Earth to Carolyn” moment.
Broder defends Napolitano’s dismal performance on television immediately after the attack by saying that she “refused to speculate…”. There was nothing to speculate about. The government had known about the Underpants Bomber for months prior to the attack. What Napolitano did was attempt to spin the attack in such a way that the American people would not find out that our government failed at their prime directive to keep this country’s citizens safe.
Our government failed but they got lucky. The Underpants Bomber was every bit as incompetent at his mission as Janet Napolitano was at her’s. We can’t count on luck. The American people need confidence that their government is looking out for them and when there is a failure that the government will deal with the failure in an upright and honest manner.
We did not get honesty or competence from Janet Napolitano. Broder is not looking at the situation with a critical eye. He is acting like a White House hack.
It came as no surprise to anyone who knows her that Napolitano handled the incident and its aftermath with aplomb. In the years I have known her, she has managed every challenge that has come her way with the same calm command that she showed in this instance. If there is anyone in the administration who embodies President Obama's preference for quiet competence with "no drama," it is Janet Napolitano. Is David Broder serious? He’s talking about Janet “the system worked” Napolitano, right?
…She is being criticized for saying "the system worked," but her part of the response system did work.…her part of the response system did work. In what possible way? Does Broder believe that the Department of Homeland Security is an after the fact agency? If that is the case we should rename the agency the Department of Homeland Janitorial Services. However, I think most American would prefer that a security agency prevent terrorist attacks, not come in after the attack and clean up the mess left behind.
It must have been a frantic time for her. She was in San Francisco, far from her Washington office, and she must have had a sleepless night. But her eyes were bright, and her voice was calm. Everything appeared to be completely normal, except that her usual sense of humor was absent, as it should have been, given the circumstances.

Napolitano in Denial: “The system worked.”
Jonah Goldberg writing in The Corner:
Upon learning of the attempted bombing of Northwest Flight 253, our President continued his golf game and then went to the gym. That is this administration’s idea of taking the war on terror “seriously.” Their whole “alls well that ends well” attitude would be merely frustrating if it didn’t belie how unseriously they take the war on terror and by extension, the safety of the American people. One wonders what, if anything, these people think their job is.
We did not hire these people as janitors. It is not their job to come along after the fact and mop up the mess. If Napolitano doesn’t understand that, and it doesn’t appear she does, then Goldberg is right, she needs to go.

Napolitano has a habit of arguing that DHS is a first responder outfit. Its mission is to deal with "man-caused-disasters" after they occur. It appears she really believes it. If the White House wants to assure people that it takes the war on terror seriously (a term Robert Gibbs used this morning by the way), they could start by firing this patently unqualified hack.Goldberg is being kind.
