Do the Dems really think that grandparents will sell out their grandkids for a lousy 250 bucks?

My Mom and Dad have a sign on the front porch that reads, “Grandkids welcome. Leave parents at home".

Coming up my parents emphasized the importance of preparing for the future. They didn’t consider it a sacrifice to do without in the here and now if it meant that they could give their children and eventually their grandchildren a leg up down the road. Trust me when I say that they don’t take well to what they believe is wreckless spending by an out of control government that is jeopardizing their grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s future. The Wall Street Journal:

Can our retired readers be bought for $250? Apparently President Obama thinks they can, because two weeks before Election Day he has endorsed sending bonus checks for that amount to the nearly 58 million Americans on Social Security.

It's hard to imagine a more blatant vote-buying exercise, especially with polls showing that seniors have turned sharply against the Democrats this year. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader (pro-tem) Harry Reid have both promised check-writing votes in the lame duck session, assuming they can fit that into all the other things they want to do before they lose their super-majorities.
I can tell you in no uncertain terms that the Administration will not be buying my parent’s vote. In fact, I wouldn’t be shocked if my mother writes, “Kiss my a$$” across the face of the check and sends it back in the original envelope marked “return to sender” so she doesn’t have to pay the postage. Mom doesn’t pull any punches.

This little stunt by the Administration just further illustrates how out of touch they are with the American people. The Administration has no idea what the values or priorities of everyday people are. They simply believe that everyone can be bought. They are about to find out just how wrong they are.

What NOW lacks in a sense of irony they more than make up for with over the top hypocrisy

More and more I am coming to believe that hypocrisy would not be so rampant on the Left if the poor dears simply possessed an irony gene. My friend, this is as fine an example as you will ever see:

NOW to deliver 1,500 baby bottle nipples to former Sen. Simpson
One assumes that the high priestesses of abortion will not be stocking this little stunt from their own cupboards.

The group is dubbing its effort a delivery of 1,500 "Tits for an Ass."

Several liberal lawmakers and activist groups, including NOW, last month called on Obama to remove Simpson from his post after he wrote an e-mail to a leader of a women's group calling Social Security "a milk cow with 300 million tits."
I’ve been assured that the women of NOW are very, very intelligent so I am sure that if properly informed even they can grasp the irony of their position. Social Security is funded through payroll taxes. However, workers do not pay for their own benefits-they pay the benefits of current retirees. During times like these when older people are retiring earlier and living longer while younger people are entering the job market later and in fewer numbers and unemployment and underemployment are high, less and less goes in to “the fund” while more and more gets paid out.

Back to NOW’s beef with Simpson:

“The Fiscal Commission should be led by someone who will actually try to address the federal budget deficit, instead of using it as an excuse to undermine Social Security by cutting benefits or raising the retirement age,” O'Neill added. “Alan Simpson is not that person.”
By “address the federal budget deficit” NOW means “raise taxes”. If cutting benefits and raising the retirement age are off the table the amount that the fund takes in must be increased. That can be achieved by increasing payroll taxes or increasing the number of people who pay in to the system. Thanks to the efforts of NOW, the birthrate in this country has fallen. We simply are not producing additional workers.

Bottom line: NOW helped create the Social Security shortfall. I believe that is called irony.

Alan Simpson Explains Social Security

Watching the following video, I am reminded of a conversation that I had with my son just two weeks ago.  We got in to a talk about Social Security and he was arguing that the program is a good thing.  In utter frustration I said to him that when designed the program was set up so that people would pay in to it their entire lives and then die before they ever got a penny out.  I went on to tell him that he needed to get over the myopic idea that massive bureaucracies are set up by people who fart moonbeams.  They are con men and social security, medicare, ObamaCare, you name it, are scams.  The government doesn't create these programs because they care about people.  They are set up because governments care about money, power and creating dependency.  Our Founding Fathers knew that if given absolute power the ruling class, government, would revert to its basest instincts.  That is why they set up a system of checks and balnces-so we could keep them in check.
