Will Uncle Omar be granted asylum like Aunt Zeituni?

Lo and behold, the President has what Don Surber aptly calls a "Crimmigrant" in the family.  From Gateway Pundit:

Barack Obama’s illegal alien Uncle Onyango Obama was arrested in Massachusetts this past week after he hit a cop car. He wanted to call the White House.

Kerry Picket at The Washington Times reported:

A number of media outlets have already reported that an illegal immigrant from Kenya by the name of Onyango Obama, 67, was arrested last week on Wednesday after he rammed his SUV into a police car in Framingham, Massachusetts.

He was later charged with DUI among other violations. I spoke to Framingham Public Information Officer Lieutenant Delaney who told me that when Onyango Obama was asked at booking if he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail, the Kenyan immigrant replied: “I think I will call the White House.”
Being illegal must pay pretty well if Uncle Omar can afford to drive around in an SUV.  On the other hand, maybe he is the famous "Omar the Tent maker" we've heard so much about.  That certainly would explain this:

Just another day in the life of the most transparent regime ever

So was it just a rouge tweet or just another day in the life in the most transparent regime ever?

Well let's jump in to the Way Back Machine for a little context.  Who remembers August, 2009?  That is when this administration put out the word that citizens should report the "fishy" behavior of their friends, family and co-workers to the White House:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
After the public outcry at the Administration's Third Reich tactics they shut down the program.  Or maybe they just took it underground.  Your tax dollars at work, folks.

Refinement with a Common touch

Our First Lady is hostessing a poetry reading at the White House. Guests (will the Obama children be attending?) will be treated to the ever elegant Common:

Whatup BIT*H? I'm Petey Wheatstraw
And you don't stop, with the heidi heidi hoe
Hi hoe, or bye hoe, if you're lookin for a sucker
(What are you?) I'm just another mother**ker
Pucker your lips, do flips like Mary Lou
Just because I f**ked you doesn't mean that I'ma marry you
Bury you, I will do, after, I bill you
Kill you, hoe, cause your sh*t smells like mildew
Now to those of us less schooled in the rich heritage of rap music the above lyrics may appear crass, sexist, violent, and even downright dumb but beauty is in the ear of the beholder.

Common (real name: Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.) isn’t some run of the mill street thug. Heck, he’s never even killed anybody. Little Lonnie is the son of educator Dr. Mahila Ann Hines and former ABA basketball player turned youth counselor Lonnie Lynn. Not exactly the hard knock life:

Yo, I didn't grow up up po po but once you get grown and out on your own
Bills apon bills apon bills is what you have
Before you get your check than you already spend half
See I make money, money doesn't make me
I'm a reflection of my section and section 8
No, Common didn’t grow up “po po” or uneducated but nothing screams AUTHENTIC BLACK MAN like faking ignorance to make a buck off of people who did grow up poor and uneducated.

Some pooh pooh (not to be confused with “po po”) the rapper’s White House invitation on grounds that he has written glowingly about cop killers and killing President George W. Bush. As we all know, fantasizing about killing President Bush is perfectly acceptable (disagreeing with President Obama is haraam) and we should give the White House credit for making it clear that the President does not support killing cops (his position on Bush killing is somewhat murkier).

All and all I am sure it will be a classy event.

Alligators would be good but boiling acid would be better

I'm about nine/tenths kidding, of course.  In case you missed it, Barack Obama did some speechifying on the subject of illegal immigration and while on a roll decided to point out what a bunch of ingrates those of us who believe in protecting our borders are:

Maybe they’ll say we need a moat. Or alligators in the moat.
They’ll never be satisfied. And I understand that. That’s politics.
That Barry is quite the joker, isn't he?  I'm sure those in attendance laughed and laughed.  And why shouldn't they?  Its not as if we have terrorists streaming across the Mexico border or anything.  Barry went on to claim that the border fence is "almost complete".  He's absolutely right if five percent constitutes "almost".

Oh well.  I say, "illegal immigrant" and Barry says, "constituents".  It is all a matter of perception.

Cutting through the BS

Jonah Goldberg:

Cut through all of the issues and it boils down to this: The SEALs had to kill Bin Laden to prevent him from falling into the hands of Eric Holder.
Try to imagine Osama Bin Laden in the pokey and Eric Holder holding the keys.  Earlier today I wrote this comment over at Don Surber's:

I wonder how many of those sixteen hours it took Obama to make his *choke* “gutsy call" *choke* were spent worrying about what would happen if the SEALs brought Bin Laden in alive? After all of Obama’s preachy speeches about waterboarding I’m betting that Barry figured that it was easier to deal with the fallout from putting a bullet in an unarmed man’s head than put up with the consequences of bringing him in alive.
Obama made the right call, but gutsy?  Not hardly.

Time for a trade-in

Our friends on the Left are miffed

We've joined in the air strikes of Libya and the usual subjects on the Left are taking it none too kindly.  Don Surber has a roundup of reactions from Andrew Sullivan, Robert Dreyfuss, Louis Farrakhan and Michael Moore.  Honest righteous indignation from the Left or just their typical "I'm so important that everyone is waiting to hear my opinion" claptrap?

I've heard rumors that Michael Moore is so distraught over the bombings that he couldn't even eat is normal ten meals before breakfast.  Sullivan has had a bad case of the joneses since first he laid eyes on Barry and on the odd occasion that he does see fit to criticize his pet he typically lays the ultimate blame elsewhere.  Now he's calling for a congressional vote-in all likelihood believing that a vote will give his beloved cover.  Dreyfuss is blaming the women in Obama's life.  Hey, we're all Delilha's at heart.  Only Farrakhan managed to sound genuinely pissed-"Who the Hell do you think you are?"  I think Obama had an epiphany somewhere between the third and forth hole, turned to his caddy and said, "I think I may be president of the United States."  Just a guess.

For all the rumbling, what is the Left going to do?  Refuse to support his re-election campaign?  Actually vote against him?  Nope.  This is just lipservice and this too, shall pass.

Well if this doesn’t make you want to run right out and risk your life savings to start your own business I don’t know what will:

In an unprecedented and controversial move, the White House has launched a new program at the Department of Labor which will refer workers who have complaints about their bosses to a toll free number at the American Bar Association, where they can get a lawyer to work on their case on a contingency fee basis.

Didn’t get the raise you were expecting or the promotion you feel you deserve? No worries! The current Administration and trial lawyers have a cozy little “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” relationship:

Seventy-six percent of the $102,839,147 donated by lawyers in the 2010 election cycle went to Democrats, while the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees union spent $87.5 million alone on independent expenditures, more than any other special interest, including the widely derided expenditures of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Could those schmucks in DC be any more corrupt?

Don’t answer that.

A little experience goes a long way

So now we are told that Obama is easily frustrated. Who knew?

Baker opens with an anecdote from just before Christmas. Obama is sitting with his economic advisers to go over ideas for the State of the Union. He wanted a bold idea to bring down unemployment. But he didn't like anything his advisers were offering up. “You know, guys,” he said, according to someone in the room, “I’ve told you before, I want you to come to me with ideas that excite me.”

But it's not until a few paragraph later that we learn what Obama actually meant: He wanted "ways to juice the economy that are exciting, effective and politically viable." According to one adviser in the meetings, “The president wanted to lower unemployment but didn’t see a way to get more money out of Congress. He grew frustrated because the economic team didn’t have that magic combination.” Another said that Obama “was really frustrated that there weren’t solutions on the cheap.”

So, President Obama, how’s that OJT working out for you? All over America businesses deal with the challenge of finding solutions on the cheap. Contrary to liberal dogma, “throw money at it” is rarely a viable solution in the real world. However, in Obama’s defense, that little factoid was probably omitted from the Community Organizer’s Handbook.

Most people are aware that learning on the fly is rarely satisfying and nearly always frustrating. But then most people don’t get to play “trial and error” with the US economy. If the president is frustrated by the rigors of holding a real job and all that it entails he should try to imagine how we feel.

Merriment abounds!

Does anyone actually take seriously the rumors of Obama facing a primary challenge? It is nothing but talk from a bunch of spoiled Leftists who are so inbred that they believe they can influence policymaking by making empty threats. The overwrought Lefty/Loony comment of the day (emphasis mine):

It's over. This was the last straw.  (Note to commenter-Obama has two years to go. No way this was the last straw.  Hee.)

If he wants to run in 2012, let him run as a republican which is what he is now that the facade he wore in 2008 has come off.

Health care reform? Yeah, right. Didn't even consider the only real solution which is Medicare for all. We were duped into thinking we'd have a public option but that didn't happen either.

Bank reform? Yeah, right. Investigations into fraud and criminal activity? None. Breaking them up so they aren't too big to fail? Nope. Nothing. A joke all around.

Closing Guantanamo? Another lie.

Investigations into previous administration war crimes? Didn't want to look back - the law only applies to the little people.

Ending the wars? Still 50k troops in Iraq and escalated involvement with the hopelessly corrupt Afghanistan government. Another con job.

Green jobs investments? Another promise that never happened.

I could go on, but I've made the point.

Democrats had better get rid of this republican masquerading as a democrat and get someone who represents progressives or get out of town. We don't need two conservative parties in this country.
Ah, yes-Obama has come out of the Conservative closet. He’s a DINO. Next thing you know we’ll find out that “Community Organizer” is code for “Venture Capitalist”. Pinch me, I think I’ve died and gone to Everyone is a Comedian heaven.

No boys and girls, Obama doesn’t ride unicorns. The seas do not part as he nears. He did not descend from Mt. Olympus. Barack Hussein Obama is a politician, though not a very bright or skilled one at that. He made promises during his campaign that any reality based sentient should have known were unkeepable. Even Obama himself seems hacked that the dolt filled masses fell for his lines.

So who would they run against Obama-Howard “The Scream” Dean? Make my day. Over a Crooks and Liars a commenter suggested Dean, Sanders or Grayson. Make my millennium. Nope, the Left is stuck with Obama and him with them. The upside is that until recently the Left gave me high blood pressure and ulcers but now they provide endless hours of entertainment. Whine on.

Maybe the smart kids aren't so smart

Fuzzyslippers sums up our dear leader and his admirers:

The problem with Obama’s incompetence is not that Obama has suddenly, magically become incompetent but that he’s been incompetent all along. And the problem for respectable conservatives (i.e. those who set themselves above the unwashed blogosphere masses) is that to admit this may lead to uncomfortable questions about their smart kids’ club.
Obama suffers from a depressing lack of competence.  He depresses Liberals who are left to wonder whatever happened to The One-the man/god who was going to heal the earth and unite her people.  He was going to create a Utopia and bring us peace.  Those of us on the Right are depressed (and more than a bit angry) that it has taken the Left so long to figure out what we knew all along-that Obama is just talk and he is really not all that good at that.

Obama became president of the United States by convincing fifty-three percent of the voters that a man who had never accomplished anything was qualified to be leader of the free world.  And to date, that remains his only accomplishment.

Yet Obama continues to tells us that it isn't him, it's us.  We just don't understand.  And that is depressing.

You're so vain

Gee, who'da thought that a man who had written two memoirs by the time he was forty-five might just be a tad full of himself?

Pundette:

Heaven help me, I'm starting to feel sorry for this vain, petty man. William Kristol:

At his November 12 press conference in Seoul, President Obama was asked the following question by CBS’s Chip Reid: “What was the number-one complaint, concern, or piece of advice that you got from foreign leaders about the U.S. economy and your stewardship of the economy?”

Whereupon the president began his response with a complaint: “What about compliments?” he asked. “You didn’t put that in the list.”
Pair that with another recent "But let's get back to me" moment and you might detect a pattern:

MR. KANSAGRA: Thank you. Welcome, Mr. President, to India. As a fellow Kenyan, I’m very proud to see that you have made –

THE PRESIDENT: Made something of myself. (Laughter.)

MR. KANSAGRA: — India as the focus of your drive for exports out of the U.S.

Remember, this the man who referred to himself one hundred and thirty-two times during the State of the Union address.  This is a man who never met a talk show he wouldn't appear on.  He is da bomb, the bag of Cheetos and President who put the sexy in the bee's hot little knees.  Just ask him.  You don't like ObamaCare?  Barry just needs to talk to you-some more.

Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen are calling for Obama to announce that he will not run for re-election:

"If the president goes down the reelection road, we are guaranteed two years of political gridlock at a time when we can ill afford it," Caddell and Schoen write in Sunday's Washington Post. "But by explicitly saying he will be a one-term president, Obama can deliver on his central campaign promise of 2008, draining the poison from our culture of polarization and ending the resentment and division that have eroded our national identity and common purpose."

You might think that by announcing he will not run, Obama would be telling the world that he is too weak even to try for re-election. Not so, say Caddell and Schoen. "Forgoing another term would not render Obama a lame duck," they write. "Paradoxically, it would grant him much greater leverage with Republicans and would make it harder for opponents such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell -- who has flatly asserted that his highest priority is to make Obama a one-term president -- to be uncooperative."
Does anyone really believe that Obama's ego would allow him to forgo a possible second term?  Granted, walking away beats the hell out of losing but the likelihood of it occurring to Obama that he could lose is somewhere between zip and nada.

We are stuck with Obama and his ego for two more years.  It is my greatest hope that the next election will be about substance rather than faux star power.

Obama misses the mark

Writing in the New York Times President Obama makes a case for the country’s need to increase its exports:

AS the United States recovers from this recession, the biggest mistake we could make would be to rebuild our economy on the same pile of debt or the paper profits of financial speculation. We need to rebuild on a new, stronger foundation for economic growth. And part of that foundation involves doing what Americans have always done best: discovering, creating and building products that are sold all over the world.

We want to be known not just for what we consume, but for what we produce. And the more we export abroad, the more jobs we create in America. In fact, every $1 billion we export supports more than 5,000 jobs at home.
As tempting as it may be to snark about the president’s “pile of debt” comment, I will set that aside. I am struck by the president’s ability to write 763 words without mention two of the biggest impediments that US manufacturer’s face-taxation and regulation. The United States has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. According to a 2010 World Bank study our effective rate is 27.9 percent while the average among the world’s developed nations is 16.8 percent. This country walks in to the global market place at a severe disadvantage. The disadvantage is compounded by the fact that our government has become downright slap happy when it comes to piling on regulations.

Yes, we need to become more competitive on a global level but Obama will not bring that about by running around glad-handing foreign dignitaries. Job One if he is really serious about putting Americans back to work is to get government out of the way.

Contrary to the liberal talking points, manufacturers do not move overseas because of cheap labor. They move because of our punitive taxes and innovation stifling regulations. Give businesses the tools they need to prosper and they will do so. Continue to hamper a manufacturer’s ability to put out a product at reasonable price and realize a profit and as sure as LeBron James moved his “franchise” from tax heavy Ohio to income tax free Florida, our manufacturers will continue to flee to more accommodating locations.

Rather than running around Asia, Obama should meet with Timothy Geithner and the heads of the various regulatory commissions. Unfortunately that is not how Democrats “do” business.

Another beautiful day in Florida

Obama Democrat Alex Sink will not be governor of Florida.  It is a wonderful thing.  Sink, like her husband before her who lost his run for governor to Jeb Bush, is a liberal Democrat.  Her idea of governance is tax, tax, tax and then spend, spend, spend.  Central planning puts a smile on her face.  She was all Obama all the time.  But now?  Ed Morrissey:

Sink blames loss on Obama White House

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. But what comes after a fall? Recriminations, as Alex Sink reminds us in Florida. Politico interviewed the erstwhile gubernatorial candidate from Florida, who puts a large part of the blame for her loss on Barack Obama’s shoulders, and the rest on Rick Scott’s checkbook:

In the wake of the party’s worst election drubbing since 1994, the deep frustration felt by many centrist Democrats toward the White House and the national party is now out in the open. And it’s being aired in the battleground state that’s the biggest prize in presidential politics.

Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Alex Sink pointed an accusatory finger Friday at what she called a “tone-deaf” Obama White House to explain why she narrowly lost her campaign.

In an interview with POLITICO, Sink said the administration mishandled the response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, doesn’t appreciate the political damage done by healthcare reform and argued that her GOP opponent’s strategy of tying her to the president did grave damage to her candidacy in the state’s conservative Panhandle.

“They got a huge wake-up call two days ago, but unfortunately they took a lot of Democrats down with them,” said Sink of the White House.

She added: “They just need to be better listeners and be better at reaching out to people who are on the ground to hear about the realities of their policies as well as politics.”
Oddly enough, Sink doesn’t mention the fact that the DNC and Obama’s organizing wing OFA poured resources into Florida on her behalf to keep her competitive with Scott. Sink also neglects to mention that she had leads in polls in the final days of the election until she got caught cheating in a debate — and then lied about it. That didn’t do anything for her relationship to Florida voters, either.
Sink is not a "centrist".  She is who she is and now that the voters have rejected her brand governance she wants to whine and finger point.  Not a very attractive trait in someone who wants to be a leader.  On the other hand, seeing her taking swipes at Obama certainly is entertaining.  Party on, Alex.

Somebody needs to cut the president's credit card in two

Is there not one person in the whole of the United States government who has the backbone to look at The Mighty, Mighty Barry and say, “No sir, you won’t spend $200 million dollars a day to travel to Mumbai.”?

Is it necessary to take 3,000 people along for the ride? Could the president perhaps make do with only thirty-three warships? Could he maybe only walk down paths that don’t contain palm trees, or better yet, walk carrying Michelle on his shoulders?

If our president can’t visit another country without it costing the taxpayer’s an arm and a leg then he should stay home. Go green, Mr. President. Teleconference.

P.S.  150 people throughout the world are killed by falling coconuts each year.  Or not.  In any case, kinda wimpy thing to worry about much less plan for.

P.P.S.  Barry and Michelle Antoinette do really seem perfectly suited for one another, don't they?

P.P.P.S.  (Last one, I promise)  This trip is costing each man, woman and child in this country 65 cents per day.  When you think about it, that could be far cheaper than having the president in DC.

What now?

Well, today we celebrate.  We have earned it.  First, via Instapundit Alex Sink has conceded!  I am almost sorry that I took the day off from work.  The looks on a few of my co-worker's faces must have been delicious when Sink pulled the plug earlier today.  Why yes, I am gloating.

All and all it was a great night for my state.  We swept the governorship and cabinet as well taking large majorities in both state senate and house.  And what about our Marco!  When I first started talking to people about Marco running for the Senate polite people stifled a smile and everyone else laughed in my face.  Over and over again I was told that there was no way that Marco Rubio could beat Charlie Crist.  Congratulations, Senator Rubio!  Now in the words of my new governor, "Let's get to work."

There is one race that I am profoundly disheartened about.  Mike Prendergast will not be my representative in Congress.  We had a clear choice here between the ninth most liberal member of the House and a true conservative who has dedicated his life to the service of our country.  What we didn't have was a "machine".  Even at that, Mike won forty percent of the vote.  He did it by listening to the voters and presenting them with workable solutions to the problems facing us.  He ran a good and honorable campaign.  I am proud of Mike and proud to support him.  He can count on my support whatever the future brings.

No doubt that Marco is the man of the hour.  Enjoy his acceptance speech.  If you don't tear up at least a couple of times you are heartless.  A special thank you to all my friends at Not One Red Cent who rallied around Marco from the beginning and to my sisters at Potluck who each and everyone are a great source of pride and inspiration to me.  To Pres. Obama, well, Michelle Malkin said it best, "Take your olive branch and shove it, Democrats."

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot-goodbye, Nancy Pelosi!  Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

Today in “unexpectedly”

Byron York writing in the Washington Examiner:

Report: In Obama's Chicago, stimulus weatherization money buys shoddy work, widespread fraud

Projects to weatherize homes are a key part of the Obama administration's fusion of stimulus spending and the green agenda. But a new report by the Department of Energy has found serious problems in stimulus-funded weatherization work -- problems so severe that they have resulted in homes that are not only not more energy efficient but are actually dangerous for people to live in.

The study, by the Department's inspector general, examined the work of what's called the Weatherization Assistance Program, or WAP, in Illinois. Last year, the Department awarded Illinois $242 million, which was expected to pay for the weatherization of 27,000 homes. Specifically, Energy Department inspectors took a close look at the troubled operations of the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, known as CEDA, which is the largest recipient of weatherization money in Illinois with $91 million to weatherize 12,500 homes. (Cook County is, of course, home to Chicago.)

The findings are grim. "Our testing revealed substandard performance in weatherization workmanship, initial assessments, and contractor billing," the inspector general report says. "These problems were of such significance that they put the integrity of the entire program at risk."
Well, wow. Who could have seen that coming? Among the findings that York reported are failed inspections. In fact, 14 out of 15 homes inspected failed. I think that translates to a ninety-three percent failure rate, or if you’re one of those sunny side up “the glass is half full” kinda people, a seven percent success rate. But it gets better:

In eight of the homes, CEDA had come up with unworkable and ineffective plans -- like putting attic insulation in a house with a leaky roof. In ten of the homes, "contractors billed for labor charges that had not been incurred and for materials that had not been installed." The report calls billing problems "pervasive," with seven of ten contractors being cited for erroneous invoicing. And the department found "a 62 percent final inspection error rate" when CEDA inspectors reviewed their own work.

The work was not just wasteful; it was dangerous. Department inspectors found "heat barriers around chimneys that had not been installed, causing fire hazards." They found "a furnace [that] had not been vented properly." The found "a shut-off valve that had not been installed on a gas stove." And they found "carbon monoxide detectors, smoke alarms and fire extinguishers had not been installed as planned."

And then there was fraud. At ten of the 15 homes visited, Department inspectors found examples in which "a contractor had installed a 125,000 BTU boiler, but had billed CEDA for a 200,000 BTU boiler costing an estimated $1,000. more." Another contractor "billed for almost four times the amount of drywall actually installed." And another "installed 12 light bulbs but had billed CEDA for 20." (The Department found that CEDA paid almost three times the retail price for each light bulb.) "Billing issues appeared to be pervasive," the report concludes.
Aw, hell-close enough for government work, right? No one spends someone else’s money like they spend their own and the government is the absolute worst of the worst. In ObamaLand tax dollars are like manna from Heaven. The concept that tax dollars are the result of the labor of hard working people does penetrate the liberal psyche.

The onus doesn’t fall completely on the government. As taxpayers we haven’t done our due diligence and we haven’t held our representatives accountable. Think of the child who is allowed to run amok until one day the parents have had enough and they put their foot down. Suddenly the rules have changed and the child doesn’t understand why. Many in our government are acting like that child. They’ve been allowed to jump on the furniture for so long that they feel entitled to it.

The key is to be consistent with our elected officials. We need to let them know that we are in charge, what our expectations are and what the consequences are for not meeting our expectations. Going forward we should insist on knowing, and approving, of projects that require tax money. The tax money spent on the Weatherization Assistance Program would have been just as productive had it been tossed in to the Chicago River. We taxpayers should insist on more from our government.

Obama's a snob? Who da thunk it?

Michael Gerson has had an epiphany-Obama is a snob.  Knock me down with a feather.  Gerson writes:

After a series of ineffective public messages -- leaving the political landscape dotted with dry rhetorical wells -- President Obama has hit upon a closing argument.

"Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now," he recently told a group of Democratic donors in Massachusetts, "and facts and science and argument [do] not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared."

Let's unpack these remarks.

Obama clearly believes that his brand of politics represents "facts and science and argument." His opponents, in disturbing contrast, are using the more fearful, primitive portion of their brains. Obama views himself as the neocortical leader -- the defender, not just of the stimulus package and health-care reform but also of cognitive reasoning. His critics rely on their lizard brains -- the location of reptilian ritual and aggression. Some, presumably Democrats, rise above their evolutionary hard-wiring in times of social stress; others, sadly, do not.

Though there is plenty of competition, these are some of the most arrogant words ever uttered by an American president.
Sounds to me that Obama is channeling his inner Janeane Garafolo.  Don't be surprised if at some point Obama breaks out with a dissertation on the functions of the "limbic brain".  In any case, it is obvious that the president believes that the American electorate is comprised of inferior beings.  In that bright, shiny place known as ObamaLand, the motto is oddly similar to that of the nutty whack job who decided to call out his ex-girlfriend on C-SPANIts not me, its you

How, O how can Barry be expected to rule people who have no idea what arugula is to get the complexities of his vision?  It is an impossible task. Frustrating.

I guess momma never told little Barry that there would be days like this.  On the bright side, in a mere two years he can put all this behind him.

So how's that attack on the Chamber working out for you?

I recently argued that it is wrong of Pres. Obama & Co. to make baseless accusations against the Chamber of Commerce. Turns out that it was not only wrong, but down right foolish:

Dems take in twice as much “foreign” money as Republicans

Over the weekend, some Democrats began questioning the White House strategy of demonizing third-party groups for potentially using foreign-raised money in political messaging. Now we know why. Apparently, the shrieking over foreign influence was yet another case of projection:

Democratic leaders in the House and Senate criticizing GOP groups for allegedly funneling foreign money into campaign ads have seen their party raise more than $1 million from political action committees affiliated with foreign companies.

House and Senate Democrats have received approximately $1.02 million this cycle from such PACs, according to an analysis compiled for The Hill by the Center for Responsive Politics. House and Senate GOP leaders have taken almost $510,000 from PACs on the same list.
Oh, where to start? “Pot/kettle” and “glass houses” easily come to mind. Too easily. Time and time again we are reminded that the current inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue believes that rules are for we silly little bitter clingers not for a man of Obama’s overwhelming stature. In this case, Ann Althouse states it perfectly:

And may I just add that I find the attacks on the Chamber of Commerce incredibly, absurdly out-of-touch with ordinary Americans. Not that I'm an expert on the mind of the ordinary Americans. I've been confined to the remote outpost of Madison, Wisconsin since the 1980s. But I do not believe that demonizing something as dull-sounding as the Chamber of Commerce is going to make any sense to people. The idea that the Chamber of Commerce is ruining America sounds like something a nutty conspiracy theorist would say.

A nutty conspiracy theorist or a really desperate (and unprincipled) politician.

A question that begs a question

Ezra Klein asks, "Do the polls back up the attacks on the Chamber of Commerce?" and concludes that the answer is "no".  Close but no cigar.  The correct response is "Why the Hell should poll results matter?".

Klein, disagreeing with Greg Plum, concludes that the attacks on the Chamber should end because polls show that the attacks aren't working.  That the public isn't buying Obama's false attacks is laudable but not unexpected.  Obama has an annoying habit of giving the public, us, far less credit than we deserve.  Remember, this is the guy that believes that we just aren't smart enough to "get" ObamaCare.  But whether the the attack is playing in Punxsutawney or not is beside the point.

The president and his minions should stop the attacks on the Chamber because they are wrong.  The attacks are being made up out of thin air.  What was it Axlerod said?  "Can you prove that the Chamber isn't using foreign money for its ads?"  Cheap.  Cheap and beneath the dignity of an employee of the United States government.  That alone is reason enough for the administration to drop the attack.
