Save The Planet, Kill A Kid-Whatever Version We're Up To Now

Stacy McCain reminds us that according to "the experts" those of us who procreate, or in my case, procreated once upon a time, are strangling the life out of dear Mother Earth:

Unchecked population growth is speeding climate change, damaging
life-nurturing ecosystems and dooming many countries to poverty, experts
concluded in a conference report released Monday.Unless birth rates are lowered
sharply through voluntary family-planning programmes and easy access to
contraceptives, the tally of humans on Earth could swell to an unsustainable 11
billion by 2050, they warned. . . .

Weary sigh. According to The Population Bomb weren't we all supposed to be dead decades ago?

The experts are all about saving our "natural resources" yet they totally discount our greatest natural resource-us. No mighty oak, no majestic whale has ever or will ever achieve or have the ability to achieve the potential innate in each human at creation. We are a miracle. Yet, the environmentalist would rather control human growth than find ways to adapt to it.

Every person I have ever known who has closely identified with the environmental movement has been pro-abortion. The would save the whale or the oak or smelt but would not a human, unless they were an adult serial murderer sitting on death row.

There is a self-loathing in the environmental movement that defies understanding. Yes, as populations grow, particularly in under developed countries, innovation will become more and necessary. Where do they expect that innovation to come from, the timber wolf? Humans will achieve the greatness we need to successfully transition forward. And in 2050, some expert will still be calling for our end.

So How's That Carbon Emissions Thing Working Out?

For all those whiney fascist Greenies who want to impose their delusional world view on the rest of us, may I just say, suck on this:

Washington, D.C.-During a hearing today in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, EPA Administrator Jackson confirmed an EPA analysis showing that unilateral U.S. action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions would have no effect on climate. Moreover, when presented with an EPA chart depicting that outcome, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said he disagreed with EPA's analysis.

So what’s Plan B for taking over the World?

Wealthy People Have A bigger Carbon Footprint? Who Knew?

From Reuters

To fairly divide the climate change fight between rich and poor, a new study suggests basing targets for emission cuts on the number of wealthy people, who are also the biggest greenhouse gas emitters, in a country.

Since about half the planet's climate-warming emissions come from less than a billion of its people, it makes sense to follow these rich folks when setting national targets to cut carbon dioxide emissions, the authors wrote on Monday in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
.

Calling Al Gore. Calling Mr. Gore

"As countries develop -- India, China, Brazil and others -- over time, they'll have more and more of these (wealthy) individuals and they'll have a higher share of carbon reductions to do in the future," he said.

These obligations, based on the increasing number of rich people in various countries, would kick in as each developing country hit a certain overall level of carbon emissions. This level would be set fairly high, so that economic development would not be hampered in the poorest countries, no matter how many rich people live there.

Is this a limousine-and-yacht tax on the rich?

But wouldn’t that affect all those socially responsible, environmentally conscientious people in Hollywood?

Well, that just smacks of class warfare. On the other hand, what goes around…

Enviromental Group Equates Happiness With Tyranny

If like me you suspect that the Greenies won’t be happy until we’re all back living in caves take a gander at this list:

1. Costa Rica
2. Dominican Republic
3. Jamaica
4. Guatemala
5. Vietnam
6. Colombia
7. Cuba
8. El Salvador
9. Brazil
10. Honduras
11. Nicaragua
12. Egypt
13. Saudi Arabia
14. Philippines
15. Argentina

So, which of these countries would you want to live in? According to Ashley Seager at the Guardian, Costa Rica is the world’s greenest, happiest country. Heaven help us, the above list represents the countries that come closest to meeting the New Economics Foundation's standards for “one-planet living.”

The message is that by shrinking your “carbon footprint” you can actually be happier. Nonsense. Being dropped off in the middle of nowhere may make for a good reality show (I wouldn’t know), but I bet there are more people living in the above listed countries who given the opportunity would move to the United States than Americans who would go live in Vietnam, Cuba, Egypt, et al.

Contrast the list of “greenest” and thus “happiest” countries with the list of countries that enjoy the greatest freedom:

1. Hong Kong
2. Singapore
3. Australia
4. Ireland
5. New Zealand
6. United States
7. Canada
8. Denmark
9. Switzerland
10. United Kingdom
11. Chile
12. Netherlands
13. Estonia
14. Iceland
15. Luxemburg

I am not at all surprised that there are no over-lapping countries on these two lists but I suspect that there is a correlation between living free and being happy that the Greenies completely discount. Environmentalists (and progressives of every stripe) would restrict individual freedom to promote their agenda. Cap and Trade is a perfect example. Cap and Trade represents huge taxation which will lower the standard of living for every American and restrict American’s abilities to pursue their own definition of happiness.

Any group whose agenda is dependent on the restriction of individual liberty and freedom, regardless of their ’good intentions’, is not a group that Americans should support. We, as citizens, need to work diligently to remain on the second list and avoid any push towards the fascism inherent in the first list.

Fish Don't Vote!

Rodriguez, “I appeal to Salazar. Land this time. Look at the faces you affect.”

Environmentalists have complete shut off the water supply to the fertile San Janquin Valley, destroying thousands of family farms and putting 80 thousand people out of work all because of a minnow. This is ‘Greenism’ on crack and a threat to all of us. Whoever controls the water supply controls the food supply.

Call Interior Secretary Salazar’s office at (202) 208-7351 between the hours of 9am and 5pm ET and tell the staffer who answers to turn the water back on for the farmers in the San Janquin Valley.

UPDATE: Rodriguez is confronted by another protester:
