The Co-opting of 9/11 Continues

American Power brings us news of an award winning ad:

When I see a picture of planes flying towards the Twin Towers I think of 9/11 and the nearly 3000 lives taken by terrorists on that awful day. Silly me. As any good Leftist will tell you, those lives mean squat. The picture above is part of an ad from the World Wildlife Fund:

The ad's sales pitch reads:

"The tsunami killed 100 times more people than 9/11. The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it."

Ed Morrissey responds:

Wow! Sounds like the Earth is the real terrorist ....Whoever thought of trivializing and commercializing the murders of 3,000 people for an ad campaign about conservation needs to search deep within themselves to determine whether their soul exists.

I suppose the WWF is to be congratulated for not referring to the victims of 9/11 as "little Eichmann's" but their intention is clear and completely revolting. Fortunately, the Left doesn't (yet) own this country and the victims of 9/11 will be honored. If by honoring our fallen we somehow cause the Left discomfort, then it will be a bonus.

It's simply wrong to use 9/11 as a political tool to scare people. Only the left would stoop so low. I don't think I've ever heard 9/11 invoked by a Republican for any reason...

Are you serious?

Scott, go back and read it. I think that 9/11 should be remembered as the day that Islamic terrorists murdered 3000 innocent lives. Is that clear enough?

The Left wants to co-opt the day, change the focus and make it about anything except what happened on that day.

If you guys want to have National Tsunami Day or National Polar Bear Day or whatever, knock yourselves out. But pick another day. May I suggest April 1st as National Leftist Day?
