There are screw ups and then there are major catastrophes

So, do you ever wonder how many Dems are sitting around right now ruing the day they threw Hillary Clinton under the bus?  The thought puts a smile on my face and a skip in my step.

Ruby Slippers writes that Hillary is not a happy camper right now.  Who can blame her?  She was by far the more qualified candidate and should have easily won the Democratic primary but where is she now?  No, literally, where is she now?  Has there ever been a Secretary of State that has been so far out of the public eye?  Given the events in Iran and Venezuela, and the continuing terrorist attacks here, wouldn't you think Hil would be playing a might bigger role than she is now?

I would like to see her run against Obama for the Dem nomination in 2012.  This time around she would beat him blind folded and with both hands tied behind her back.  I also believe she would lose in the general election but that is beside the point.

Obama is a one term president.  He is way over his head and the shine is gone.  I am not a Hillary fan but I will give credit where credit is due.  Hillary is intelligent.  We are told that Obama is as well but I've yet to see any evidence, tangible or otherwise.  Hillary is accomplished.  Obama has no record of accomplishing anything.  Hillary is at least somewhat centrist.  Obama is whatever Rahmbo tells him to be.  If Hillary were president she would forgo the mouth flapping and do something.

Oh well, the Dems loss is the Republican's gain.  I bet Hillary isn't the only Dem out there who is not a happy camper.

Liars, Scammers and Frauds (and Hillary Clinton), Oh, My!

Hillary Clinton went to Copenhagen and as my Mom would say, talked out of her ass:

"In the context of a strong accord in which all major economies pledge meaningful mitigation actions and provide full transparency as to those actions, the U.S. is prepared to work with other countries towards a goal of mobilising $100bn a year to address the needs of developing countries," Sec. of State Hillary Clinton said, according to BBC.

As Darlene Click said at Protein Wisdom said, It’s not like, you know, it will be coming out of Hillary Clinton’s own bank account. It's also not like Hillary has the authority to commit the United States to anything, but in this case, it is the thought that counts.

Clinton's pledge feeds the notion that we owe the world. But were we to give all that we have "the world" would demand more while still insisting that we hadn't done enough. Those gathered in Copenhagen care little about our exceptionalism. If they think at all of the innovations born in the USA that have benefited the world as whole it is to complain we are destroying the planet. On one hand they insist that as a "rich" nation we have a duty to the world but then they cheer wildly when Hugo Chavez claims that "capitalism is the road to Hell."

This is a summit of liars, scammers and frauds and soon our president will be among them. The Apology Tour continues...

Why Are We Mistreating Honduras? Updated!

Via Memeorandum:

In Hillary's Honduras Obsession, Mary O’Grady writes:

Ever since Manuel Zelaya was removed from the Honduran presidency by that
country's Supreme Court and Congress on June 28 for violations of the
constitution, the Obama administration has insisted, without any legal basis,
that the incident amounts to a "coup d'état" and must be reversed. President
Obama has dealt harshly with Honduras, and Americans have been asked to trust
their president's proclamations.

Now a report filed at the Library of Congress by the Congressional Research Service (CRS) provides what the administration has not offered, a serious legal review of the facts. "Available sources indicate that the judicial and legislative branches applied
constitutional and statutory law in the case against President Zelaya in a
manner that was judged by the Honduran authorities from both branches of the
government to be in accordance with the Honduran legal system," writes CRS
senior foreign law specialist Norma C. Gutierrez in her report.

Why, under orders from the administration, is Clinton dealing so harshly with a country that we should be heralding as a democratic partner in the Americas? One would think that we would encourage Honduras as a counter-balance to Chavez’s Venezuela. Instead, against the opinion of the CRS and public opinion, we are using our might to crush democracy.

Under the Honduras constitution, that country was legally obligated to remove former president Zelaya from office. The Honduran Supreme Court followed the letter of their law. At worst, we should interfere in that country’s sovereign affairs; at best, we should extend our hand to our fellow democracy.

Update:

Fausta's Blog is reporting that former president Zelaya is back in Honduras and hiding out in the Brazilian embassy. No word on what he hopes to accomplish unless he is trying to provoke a confrontation.

Why Is Hillary So Testy?

Via Memeorandum:

Has Bill been misbehaving again because Hil seems to be more than a bit touchy.

Surely, Sec. Clinton knows that she will always on some level be Mrs. Clinton. She is the wife of a former president and from time to time she will get questions that refer back to him. Rather than acting as though she’s been insulted, a little bit of humor and grace will take her a long way. Or at least further than she got by acting like a total shrew just because someone asked a question about her husband.

Diplomacy For Wimps

Via Memeorandum:

In Death of a Doctrine Michael Gerson explains ‘Obama Diplomacy’:

The Obama administration lacks a foreign policy ideology as a matter of ideology. Speaking recently at the Council on Foreign Relations, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asserted, "Rigid ideologies and old formulas don't apply." The torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- tempered by pragmatism, proud of its ad hockery and willing to consider everything on a case-by-case basis.

But even lacking an ideology, the administration does have a doctrine. The defining principle of President Obama's foreign policy is engagement with America's adversaries. Much of the president's public diplomacy has been designed to clear a path for such talks -- expressing respect for legitimate grievances, apologizing for past wrongs and offering dialogue without preconditions.

Think of it as the “Wuss Doctrine”, whose main components are: flattery, self-abasement and the generous use of the words “pretty please” and “anything you say”. We may not wring any concessions out of N. Korea but when Kim Jong il refers to our Secretary of State as “by no means intelligent” he says it with a rather pleasant smile. True, N. Korea hasn’t responded as well we’d expected, or Gerson states, North Korea responded to administration outreach by testing a nuclear weapon, firing missiles toward U.S. allies, resuming plutonium reprocessing and threatening the United States with a "fire shower of nuclear retaliation." , but once they get that Guittard™ Chocolate we are expecting to see a major change in our relationship.

We have also sent gifts to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, though he is proving to be a hard nut to crack. Seems that those habits he picked as a student during his university days have stuck with him. On the other hand, we have noticed a warming trend as Ahmadinejad has begun applying the affectionate term, “Little Devil” whenever he speaks of President Obama.

While it is too soon to tell if the Administration’s efforts will pay off over the long run, both the President and Secretary Clinton believe that with enough scrapping and bowing, we will be eating out of Iran and N. Korea’s hands in no time.
