Sen. Moran Wins The Prize!

Congradulations Sen. Jim Moran, you are the Daley Gator Douche Bag of the Day!

I don't know how many of you have noticed but our "representatives" don't make it very easy for working people to attend townhalls to begin with; they are often held on work days during working hours and in many cases, in venues that are too small to hold even a fraction of the people who show up. Is it too much to ask that when constituents take the time to meet with the politicians whose salaries are paid by the taxpayers that the attendees be treated with respect?

The Doctor Is In: Dr. Garofalo Shoots Off Her Mouth, Again

Via Memeorandum:

Garofalo has described herself thus: "I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth."

That would be Janeane Garofalo, self described expert on the limbic brain. An apt translation to the above statement would be, "I am a God denying, conservative hating, miserable bitch. I wallow in self imposed bile and my life sucks. ergo, everyone around must suffer as well."

Janeane's favorite words are "tea baggers" and "racists". She recently provided a window in to her soul when she referred to conservative protesters as "functionally retarded adults..." One assumes she flunked Charm School.

Another pearl of wisdom: She goes on to explain that whenever a protester says "I want my country back" what "they're really saying is, ‘I want my white guy back.'..."

Of course, no discussion of Dr. Garofalo would be complete without her astute medical observations:

"This is neuroscience," Garofalo continued. "This is not politics, this is neuroscience. It is purely limbic brain activity - this emotion over being angry that there's a black guy in office, with the people showing up armed to the health care meetings - to whatever, the town halls. But it's just, and these tea baggers. It makes me soul sick."

I don't doubt that Garofalo's soul is sick but I would argue that her illness wasn't caused by her fellow Americans excercising their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly. While Garofalo blasts conservatives for: "...the last eight years of habeas corpus being suspended, the Constitution being [expletive] on, illegal surveillance...", what is her take on the current occupant of the White House continuing those policies. Or is it okay with Garofalo now that her guy is in charge?

Has Garofalo ever said a positive or useful thing in her public life or is she nothing more than a depressing and depressed crap flinger? Anymore she is just tedious.

If You Need Something Done, Call In A US Marine

Via Allahpundit at Hot Air

Rep. Brian Baird (D-Wash.) who accused people who oppose ObamaCare of using "brown shirt" tactics, was set straight by a former United States Marine. The Marine gives the rep a history lesson, explaining that the Nazis were the National Socialist Party and a Leftist organization who took over Germany's banks, auto industry and...HEALTH CARE. He also makes a wonderful observation about Nancy Pelosi. Enjoy.

Nationwide Healthcare Rallies Tomorrow

One thousand rallies scheduled for tomorrow! This is short notice but give one hour of your time at noon tomorrow at a rally close to you and show your representative that this issue is important to you and your family. Let's join together and send Washington one unmistakable message: Hands Off Our Healthcare!

Find out where your rally is being held here.
Health protesters plan Saturday rallies outside officesMany of the organizers of the anti-tax Tea Party protests are collaborating Saturday for a Nationwide Recess Rally to protest "socialized, government-controlled healthcare" outside members' district offices.
Backed by right-of-center bloggers and conservative groups, the effort calls for demonstrations at noon in each time zone at more than 1,000 congressional offices across the country.
"These events will represent a strong statement that we’ve been pushed to the edge and simply cannot be pushed any further," the nationwide organizers state on the Recess Rally website. "It is at this time that we will also hand deliver a coalition letter to every single congressional office in the country."
Protests are planned outside offices of both Democrats and Republicans, ranging from House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who famously answered a town hall protester's comment Tuesday about "Nazi policy" with "On what planet do you spend most of your time?"
Jim Hoft, who blogs at Gateway Pundit and has been covering many of the protest events in the St. Louis area, told The Hill that the demonstrations are being planned by activists on the local level.
Hoft, who will be outside Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill's (Mo.) office for the rally on Saturday, said he believes the protest efforts at town halls throughout recess have been making a difference.
"That's why we want to keep the momentum going," Hoft said.
"This isn't about politics — some people say it would be a big defeat for Obama and the Democrats, but that isn't what's important to us in St. Louis.
"We want to defeat this legislation because we believe it's bad for America," Hoft said.Hoft said more than 2,000 protesters are expected at the Missouri locations. Word about the events has spread through blogs, talk radio and some local news outlets.
Hoft brushed aside the characterization of the demonstrations as a right-wing event. "We're seeing in the polls most of America is against this piece of legislation today," he said. "The people out there who are passionate would include the right."

Disabled Woman Assaulted Health Care Town Hall

Via Gateway Pundit:

A handicapped woman is physically assaulted at a town hall by Acorn/union thugs and yet there are no arrests and no MSM coverage. The woman, Kimberly King, had been positioned by police close to the dais at a town hall held in Alhambra. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. but was delayed until 7:00 p.m. Ms. King, who requires a walker, was assisted by a friend to the ladies room at about 5:30. When she returned to her seat, several women carrying ACORN signs were blocking her seat. Both she and her husband asked the women to allow her back to her seat but they refused. King tried to shove her way past the women when one of them stomped on her foot.

It is inconceivable that anyone would assault a woman wearing a neck brace and using a walker. That a disabled person would be attacked at a health care meeting is beyond ironic.

Leftist Tactics

The Daley Gator has excellent advice for people attending Town halls:

The Left is really trying to intimidate those protesting ObamaCare. A word of warning to those who are out there fighting for our country, these radical Leftist thugs are TRYING to start a fight, that is one of their goals. They start a fight, and then they can scream about those “nutty, violent, Right Wingers”. So, be smart. Of course defend yourself, but make sure not to be caught alone, and be sure have plenty of people there with cameras to document who threw the first punch. Let’s make sure America sees who the thugs are.

At the Tampa Townhall I attended Thursday people wearing Obama tee shirts repeated came outside (I was among those who had been locked out) and tried to "stir up" the crowd and trying to provoke a fight. Of course, they failed because while conservatives may be passionate in their beliefs, they are not hooligans.

I didn't think of it until just now but while we were shut out of the building Thursday, why were Obama supporters allowed to go in and out at will? Interesting.

Gator links to American Power who writes in part:

Just as bad, in the sense of doing violence to the truth, has been the mainstream press. (See for example, Newsbusters, "Media Ignore Democrat Astroturfing at Pelosi Event.") Bloggers have been providing crucial coverage around the country, documenting the town hall protests and the Democratic Party's extremist efforts to quash dissenting opinion. Things are so messed up that SEIU, subsequent to their union goons beating up Kenneth Gladney, spliced raw video footage to revise the story and make it look like their own people were attacked. The rank bullying and dishonesty among the Democrats is unbefitting of a worthy opponent. Indeed, from the White House on down - with its call to "flag" dissenters - we're seeing the total self-immolation of the "hope and change" promise from 2008. The Democrats are not only losing the healthcare debate, they deserve to lose. They've dissed the common sense and good graces of everyday Americans, and they've underestimated the strength of genuine civic solidarity and traditional grassroots community action.

So show up early and often, be loud and be proud, but most important; be careful out there!

The Tampa Townhall WAS NOT Open To The Public-UPDATED

A big southern "howdy" to The Next Right readers. Glad to have ya!

Hello American Power readers. Thank you for coming by!

Welcome Instapundit readers!

NOTE: I just got off the phone with my family in Arizona. I want to say VERY STRONGLY something I said further down in the post: Feelings were intense at the town hall but from where I was, locked outside, THERE WAS NO VIOLENCE IN TAMPA! I will leave to those who were inside to say what happened there because I have no personal knowledge. On the outside people were angry and they were loud. They were also WELL BEHAVED. I don't know if reports to the contrary are from people who have an agenda BUT I would emphasize that any talk of violence or riots is far outside of the scope of my personal experience at the meeting.

I got to the "public" townhall sponsored by Rep. Kathy Castor and the SEIU an hour and a half before the doors were scheduled to open. Apparently, it would not have mattered when I arrived. We stood out in the 90 plus degree weather only to be told that that the hall had been filled through a side door and no one else would be let in.

The crowd surrounded the building. We stood in front of every door and window and chanted "just say no" and "live or die". The crowd was well behaved but really worked up. I heard several people say that there were three thousand people outside. I can't confirm it but I certainly don't doubt it.

From time to time people would come outside from the building carrying Obama signs and yell at the crowd. A woman wearing a Obama tee shirt came out and got in to the face of an elderly man standing near me. I've got to give him credit, he held his own even when she was literally nose to nose with him. A policeman worked his way over and told her to move on. At another point, a man came to the doorway who had his shirt all but ripped off and bleeding from scratches in his chest. People rushed forward to find out what happened and I ended up so pent in that I couldn't even raise my arms to get a picture. Despite how he looked, it didn't appear that he was badly hurt because he was smiling and laughing while talking to the police. He was only a few feet away from me but I couldn't hear anything he was saying. I have no idea which "side" attacked him.

There were a couple of women who had signs that said, "please fix health care." Even when the crowd got loud, the women were treated with respect and everyone gave them room.

At one point someone in an Obama shirt opened the door that I was standing right in front of. Standing just inside was a union member that is affiliated with my employer. He saw me and took my picture. The man standing next to noticed and I explained the situation to him. Within moments I had several people ask me if I would be "okay" and I assured them that I would be. I was really touched that total strangers would show concern for me.

I am upset, like everyone else that showed up, that we were locked out of what was supposed to be a public meeting. On the other hand, I am really proud of my fellow citizens. We represented every age group, every race and ethnic group. Rep. Kathy Castor made it clear that she doesn't represent us. That is okay. Next election, we will find someone who does.

UPDATE:

From what I am seeing on Greta Susteren somebody got inside!

From TBO.com:

The meeting was organized by Reed plus the Service Employees International Union, other unions and Organizing for America, a liberal group that grew out of the Obama presidential campaign.

Some opponents accused the organizers of trying to stack the crowd by allowing early admission to those on their side. Reed denied that, saying those admitted early were organizers setting up the room.

In any case, opponents appeared to outnumber proponents both inside and outside.

After doors to the meeting room closed, some of those outside crowded around the windows of the meeting room, where they held up signs and chanted.

I can't speak to what happened inside the hall but the liberal St Pete Times shows where they stand by using words like "spectacle" and "near riot"". There was neither taking place outside. .

The spectacle at the Children's Board in Ybor City sounded more like a wrestling cage match than a panel discussion on national policy, and it was just the latest example of a health care meeting disrupted by livid protesters. Similar scenes are likely to be repeated across the country as lawmakers head back to their home districts for the summer recess.

Thursday's forum/near riot was sponsored by state Rep. Betty Reed, D-Tampa, and the Service Employees International Union, who apparently had hoped to hold something of a pep rally for President Obama's health care reform proposal.

From RedState:

Early reports coming in from Florida indicate the hastily scheduled townhall with Kathy Castor ended badly, as predicted, because of SEIU thugs.

The event was conveniently held in a forum where only 250 people could fit. 1000 people showed up. SEIU members were given reserved seating that took up at least half of the 250 seats. As people came in who visibly oppose the Democrats healthcare plan, SEIU members barred access to the room.

Again, the people I saw were angry and loud but well behaved. It was awful to stand for so long in blistering heat and humidity only to fins out that the organizers had stacked the hall. There was shouting. People did let their feelings known but I want to emphasize that there was no riot.

Feeling The Heat? Good!

More "standing up" news via Instapundit:

TOWN HALLS GONE WILD: “On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control.”

Hope and change! But if you cancel the town halls, the angry constituents will still find you somewhere, won’t they?

UPDATE: Col. Douglas Mortimer writes:

Well, remember that it was Senator Everett Dirksen who reportedly said: “When I feel the heat, I see the light.”

Indeed.

Keep up the good fight Conservatives, and remember the rules:

RULE 1: "Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have."

RULE 2: "Never go outside the expertise of your people."

RULE 3: "Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy."

RULE 4: "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules."

RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."

RULE 6: "A good tactic is one your people enjoy."

RULE 7: "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."

RULE 8: "Keep the pressure on. Never let up."

RULE 9: "The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself."

RULE 10: "If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive."

RULE 11: "The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative."

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

If the rules are good enough for the Left they are good enough for us.
