President Obama, ever eager to point out any perceived American injustice, told his Egyptian audience that our government protects a woman’s right to wear a hijab. While he was at it he should have mentioned that in Muslim countries nobody protects a woman’s right to wear whatever she damn well pleases. He should have mentioned that women are beaten in Muslim countries for not ‘properly’ covering up. He should have mentioned that in Muslim countries the ‘decency police’ throw acid on women who are immodest. He should have mentioned that in Muslim countries little girls are raped and then publically stoned to death when they report the rape. But he didn’t. He also didn’t mention honor killings, genital mutilation or forced marriages.
You can tell a lot about a man by what they don’t mention.

Yes, Carol, you are right. The issue is not of a dressing or minority right. It is universally historical struggle of Women. No race, caste, region or religion had treated woman as equal. Islam does not allow women to enter the mosque or pray together with male partners. Historiclaly Islamic world is the last battle ground for Liberation of Women.
