"I think that the president and Nancy Pelosi get credit," Sharpton said. "I think this began the transforming of the country the way the president had promised. This is what he ran on."No truer words have ever been spoken. At least not by the Rev. Al. Obama didn't hide his leanings or his intentions. It was all out there. But there are none so blind as those who will not see. There were a whole lot of people who would not see and now they feel like they've been bitch slapped. There were those of us who saw and tried our best to point out the path that Obama's election would lead us on but our fellow citizens closed their eyes, stuck their fingers in their ears and chanted "Yes, we can!" Yes, you did.
And if that transformation is socialism, then so be it, he explained. That is what the American public "overwhelmingly" voted for.
"First of all, then we have to say the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama," Sharpton said. "Let's not act as though the president didn't tell the American people - the president offered the American people health reform when he ran. He was overwhelmingly elected running on that and he has delivered what he promised."
What's done is done and now it is time to start mopping up the mess. As The One once said, "Either grab a mop or get out of the way."

This is true, but let's not forget the role of the fringe media here. Many people watched CNN back then, myself included, thinking we were getting "real" news, not ideological salivating. Granted, there were many of us, again myself included, who heard and understood what we were getting, but between BO lying about his radical leftist ideology (to put it mildly) and the media rushing to protect his secret and lambaste anyone who pointed out otherwise, it's not surprising that so many Americans bought what BO was selling.
That's why it is our responsibility to never ever let down our guard again, to never become complacent about our government and our politics. People see that now, and more are each day.
Another thing to keep in mind is that John McCain himself was complicit in hiding BO's true agenda. He made a conscious decision NOT to tell the American people about BO's radical connections, background, and agenda. Sarah Palin tried to tell us, but she was muffled by the McCain camp (and let's face it, that wasn't "honor" that was McCain being every bit as progressive as BO, with perhaps less "in your face, screw you America" about it).
In some ways, I believe that this had to happen. Call it fate or dumb luck. We needed a correction.
I believe that we will come out of this stronger and much more sure and secure in who we are as a country.
However, don't take any of that to mean that I believe that the next few months will be easy. But w are up tp it.
