They are a cranky bunch over there on the left. I like it!

Geez, they call us Tea Partiers racist. Have you ever paid attention to how Progressives talk about Obama when he ticks them off? The following is a comment that appeared on the Firedoglake post AFL-CIO Legislative Meeting Explodes Over Obama’s NAFTA-Style Korea Free Trade Deal:

Leo Gerard is probably in a state of shock

A lot of decent, kind loving, warm hearted, people can’t deal with the devil at first.

It is hard to attack someone that says they love you, while stabbing you in the chest at the same time. It takes a special person or persons to deal with this type of Devil.

Know Thy Enemy!

Think about it like this, OBAMA destroys the middle class of the USA, with no remorse, yes he is killing your kids, my kids, future, and laughing about it! people

Obama is not some wuzzy, weak minded, fool, he is a cold blooded tool the elites developed to destroy democrats, and their followers.

Leo Gerard is probably like most people, just trying to live a simple life. Now his simple life has change for ever, he has seen the DEVIL, and knows what the Devil is capable of doing.

Obama is no JOKE!!! Here you have a Man, who lets nothing get in his way, he sticks to his mission, which is DESTROY THE USA MIDDLE CLASS. (Obama passed the bob dole health care bill, and he has not skip one beat, 80% of the nation hated the bill, Obama said SO WHAT!)

So progressives have better develop the same will and drive Obama has to fight Obama.

Obama has no intentions of winning in 2012. Obama knows black candidates win state wide re- elections only 10% of the time. Remember Obama was the only Black Senator in the Senate in 2006.

One has to admire Obama cold blooded attitude about killing the MIDDLE CLASS, it takes a very bad man, to support a NAFTA trade deal in the middle of a depression.
I wonder what Eugene Robinson would think of that comment? Would he cut the commenter some slack or would he, as he does with members of the Tea Party, attribute the negative comment to something a bit more sinister than a mere policy disagreement:

First, I'll state the obvious: It's not racist to criticize President Obama, it's not racist to have conservative views, and it's not racist to join the Tea Party. But there's something about the nature and tone of the most vitriolic attacks on the president that I believe is distinctive - and difficult to explain without asking whether race is playing a role.

That was a total aside-I couldn’t care less what Robinson thinks. But if you read the FDL post linked above and the comments or just about any far Left site these days it becomes obvious that they have lost that loving feeling. It’s kind of like lighting a cigarette and then finding out that you are surrounded by former smokers-things turn nasty quick. It seems that the more enamored the person was with O in the beginning the nastier they are now.

I love it. My only regret is that I don’t own stock in Orville Redenbacher.

Progressives are Stuck on Anger

Writing at Ricochet, Rob Long puts an interesting spin on the liberal media's current Obama "problem":

The Liberal Media is Angry! Next Step: Bargaining

The famous Kubler-Ross stages of grief are: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.

I'm a people person. I care about others. So as the hapless, amateur-hour Obama administration lurches from one self-inflicted mess to another, what I really want to know is this: how's the press doing? You know, in the mental health department? How are all of those fawning, lickspittle toadies handling the collapse of their Chosen One?

Good news! They're following the textbook. For the past year, it's been a symphony of denial. But this summer, they slipped into anger.

Why is Obama such an unpopular president? It's your fault. You're too extreme. You have extreme views. Also: you're crazy. You think Obama is a Muslim. Oh, and you're a racist
The problem is that anger is the progressives' natural state.  This is why I don't bother trying to reason with them.  They view any disagreement as a personal attack.  I can't imagine a progressive ever reaching acceptance.

Many progressives never accepted that George W. Bush was the legitimate POTUS.  And I recently overheard a conversation between two progressives who were angry that the current administration still hadn't arrested GWB, locked him up and thrown away the key.  Acceptance simply is not these people's forte.

Conservatives, or at least Republicans, are poised for a big victory in November.  Don't expect that victory to nudge progressives towards the "bargaining" stage.  I suspect they will skip straight to a short depression stage and then regress back to a prolonged stage of anger and denial.  I am also pretty darned sure that it will be a cold day in Hell before progressives accept that the majority of their countrymen reject their vision.

The good news is that progressives tend not to breed.  Eventually, we will be free of them.

Read the of Long's piece.

Save the Planet, Move into a Cave

The invention of air conditioning was all part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.  No, really:

. . .as science writer Stan Cox argues in his new book, “Losing Our Cool: Uncomfortable Truths About Our Air-Conditioned World (and Finding New Ways to Get Through the Summer),” the dizzying rise of air conditioning comes at a steep personal and societal price.

We stay inside longer,
exercise less, and
get sick more often — and
the electricity used to power all that A.C. is helping push the fast-forward button on global warming.
The invention has also changed American politics: Love it or hate it, refrigerated cooling has been a major boon to the Republican Party. The advent of A.C. helped launch the massive Southern and Western population growth that’s transformed our electoral map in the last half century. Cox navigates all of these scientific and social angles with relative ease, providing a clear explanation of how A.C. made the leap from luxury to necessity in the United States and examining how we can learn to manage the addiction before we refrigerate ourselves into the apocalypse.
Thankfully Smitty at The Other McCain tackled this idiocy so I don't have to but I do have some thoughts.

As I have mentioned before, my house was built in 1923 and has neither heat nor air conditioning.  In the winter I sleep under an electric blanket and in the summer I sleep with a floor fan blowing on me.  I hate air conditioning and am absolutely miserable at work or any place else that is air conditioned.  Believe it or not, air conditioning is not a necessity.  Neither are cell phones, microwave ovens, television, WiFi, XBox, or indoor plumbing.  We could do without.  But why should we?  Innovation has improved all of our lives.  Good old American ingenuity and exceptionalism should be a source of pride for all of us.

I am always amused at how progressives pick and chose which aspect of modern life to disparage.  Bottom line-progressives are busybodies.  They always want to tell the other guy how to live.  So Stan Cox writes a book, and in doing so kills a bunch of trees, to tell the rest of us that we are killing the planet.  No doubt he will further increase his "carbon footprint" during his book tour, while telling us to turn off our air, bicycle to work and use recycled hemp bags to tote our organically grown groceries.

Unfortunately there is no end to the silliness that progressives are willing to engage in ostensibly to "save the planet".  Newsflash:  the planet is just fine, butt out.

Read Smitty's take.

There are No Progressive Liberals in Fox Holes

I suspect that is because for the "Progressives" among us their principals are about as deep as spittle.  Consider this from Mark Steyn:

At the end of last year, in National Review, I wrote about a London Times writer's call for a "secularist and liberal defense of the principles of a pluralist society." I was skeptical, and I wound up the column with one of those itsy-bitsy nuthin' foot-of-page-37 stories that crop up somewhere around the western world every day now - something about Jewish teachers getting taunted by, ahem, certain pupils:

Around 2002 she began to encounter explicitly anti-Semitic speech from Muslim students: “Does someone smell a Jew? It stinks here.” “You are not human, you are a Jew.” Had Anglo-Saxon skinheads essayed such jests, Oliver Kamm’s warriors of secular pluralism would have crushed them like bugs. But when the teacher went to the principal, and the school board, and the local “hate-crimes unit,” they all looked the other way and advised her that it would be easier if she retired. Sixty out of 75 French teachers at the school opted to leave: A couple were Jewish, a few more practicing Catholics, and most of the rest were the liberal secularists on whom Oliver Kamm’s defense of the West rests. The francophone children withdrew, too. And now the principal and most of the students and faculty are Muslim.

Maybe it would have wound up like that anyway. But having nothing to stand in your way except liberal progressives certainly accelerated the process. And as it went at one schoolhouse, so will it go on the broader horizon: If you believe in everything, you’re unlikely to stand for something.
Of course, the "secularist and liberal defense of the principles of a pluralist society" only applies to a very narrow segment of society.  It certainly doesn't apply to women or minorities who wonder off the Progressive farm.  And while our Progressive brothers and sisters are certainly "brave" when it comes to standing against grannies like myself in the Tea Party, they are quick to head for the exits when a real threat comes along.  And to be sure, radical Islam is a much greater threat to the Progressive lifestyle than I or my fellow Conservatives will ever be.

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words:

A subject that Conservative and Progressive women should agree on

Donald Douglas at American Power has a post via Blazing Cat Fur on the West's appeasement to Islam.  Of course the example given is the trial of Geert Wilders in Amsterdam currently taking place.  Wilders is on trial for offending Islam.  Considering the Hell that Wilders is being subjected to by the "Religion of Peace" I would say he is only slightly luckier than his fellow Dutchman Theo van Gogh who was stabbed to death in retribution for his offense of Islam.  Closer to home we have the persecution via prosecution of Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant at the hands of our immediate neighbors to the north.  How long will it be before we see these types of lawsuits in the United States?

The first line of defense against the spread of Sharia in this country should be our women.  The debasement of woman under Sharia is well known and therefore, halting the influence of Sharia in this country should be the one area that Conservative and Progressive women should be in agreement on.  But are we?  Never a peep from Progressive women regarding the subjugation of their sisters under Sharia.  Did you hear about the honor killing in Texas?  Not if you read Jane Hamsher or any other female "Progressive" writer.  Read any good articles on genital mutilation by Ellen Goodman lately?  No, I imagine not.  And be certain, when our liberated sisters on the left talk about "misogyny and the church" they never include the mosque in the discussion.

Has the influence of Islam spreads to and across our shores, women who refuse to give up their hard won freedoms should be standing shoulder to shoulder.  But when it comes to my progressive sisters I won't hold my breath.

When did "You can succeed" become a radical message?

Over at the aptly name Crooks and Liars Heather Sunday has a problem with Glenn Beck's CPAC speech.  Exactly what the problem is remains a mystery.  Does Sunday object to Beck's message of self-sufficiency?  Is it somehow radical that people actually succeed by their own hard work rather than by the largess of the nanny state?

Progressives seem perfectly happy to cede their individualism to the state.  It is as if they are aware that there are winners and losers in life and the simply more comfortable allowing the government to separate the wheat from the chaff.  They just don't believe that Joe Schmo is smart enough to wander through this life without the guiding hand of an omnipotent and omnipresent government referee overseeing the game of life.

Conservatives know that alot of us will fail, repeatedly, before we succeed.  Conservatives know that life isn't fair and that alot of us will struggle.  But Conservatives also believe that each one of us was endowed with the ability to succeed.  Reaching a personal level of success may not be easy but it is far more satisfying than the false Utopia that Progressives cling to.

Killer blog comment of the day

From the comments on Solomania:

My Brush With the Alabama Shooter's Psycho History - Amy Bishop Was Ipswich Pariah

#15 nickless

Consider a person who believes that their superior intellect has placed them above their fellow man.

They will seek to control. They will seek to lead. They will become more and more control-fixated as their attempts at control, in the name of improving everything around them, are rebuffed.

It can become panic, even fear, as they realize that their superior view does not grant them control of very much at all, that other people remain stubbornly free from their control, and that they, perhaps, are not captains of their fate, much less Moses's, leading the huddled masses to the Promised Land.

Liberals and intellectuals both have this common thread. Liberal intellectuals, well, that's just doubling up on the crazy.

But enough about Obama. This Bishop nut is no bargain, either.
Scary thing is, I know someone who fits the above description to a "T".

UPDATE:

I threw post up just as my lunch was ending and failed to give credit where credit was due.

Well, somebody appears peeved

In electing Barack Obama the Left ignored his totally lack of experience or achievement and instead acted as if that "President of the United States" was just another affirmative action, OJT entry level position.  Why the Left believed that someone who had never done anything would suddenly do something credible is beyond me.  Instead of Hope and Change they got Bumbling and Ineptitude and now we are being treated to a chorus of whoa is me.

How to Squander the Presidency in One Year:

Barack Obama has now, in just a year's time, become the single most inept president perhaps in all of American history, and certainly in my lifetime. Never has so much political advantage been pissed away so rapidly, and what's more in the context of so much national urgency and crisis. It's astonishing, really, to contemplate how much has been lost in a single year.

It was hilarious, of course, when Michelle Bachmann invoked the Charge of the Light Brigade at a rally against "Obama's" (has he ever really owned it?) health care "initiative" (isn't that too strong a word to use?), quite oblivious to the fact that the actual historical event was one of history's greatest debacles. Obama, on the other hand, seems to be actually reliving the famous cock-up in the flesh. Except, of course, that he doesn't really "charge" at anything. He just talks about things, thinks about things a real long time, defers to others on things, and waits around for things to maybe happen.

This week, though, something actually did happen. Alas, not precisely what the president had in mind, however.

But the election in Massachusetts was only slightly less inevitable than the sun rising in the east each morning. It was the product of an amazing collection of abysmal choices and practices over the last year that has produced a meltdown of equally amazing proportions for this president and his party. It is fitting that it comes on the anniversary of the president's inauguration, a moment filled with so much hope for so many just a year ago.
At first glance one would think that little critique of the President had been written by an anti-Obama conservative but it wasn't.  The author is progressive professor David Michael Green of Hofstra University.  It appears that Obama has lost the Left, never had the Right, and the middle are flocking away from his policies in droves.  In other words, something good is coming out the election of Obama after all.

BREAKING NEWS! Good looking senator-elect has good looking wife and good looking daughters and they all look good in bathing suits!

Senator-elect Scott Brown did a layout in Cosmo!  Senator elect Scott Brown's wife appeared in a music video!  Senator-elect Scott Brown's daughters wear bikinis while on vacation!  Senator-elect Scott Brown's mother kissed a boy behind the bleachers during the big game!  I made that last one up-but you get my point.

When "progressives" (is that an oxymoron or what) don't have an argument they resort to ugliness or silliness or both.  The revelations about Brown's wife and daughters is the height of silliness.  Further, it goes to how little the Left knows or understands the Right.  Do they really think that anyone on the Right cares if Brown posed in the altogether for Cosmo.  I would willing to bet that the majority of women on the Right had the same reaction I did:  that man looks good!  More power to Brown's wife.  There are (old) pictures out there of me in a bikini.  All together now, SO WHAT?

If this the best the Left can do then we should all settle in for one very silly season.  For myself, I'll stick more pressing issues.

Side note:  When Scott Brown said that his daughters were "available" I immediately thought of my Dad.  It was the kind of goofy thing he would do.  I thought it was sweet and utterly endearing.  Lighten up, folks.  Dads are goofballs and that is why we love them.

For progressives the glass is always half empty

Reading Don Surber's Clavin explains all I came across a comment that triggered a powerful and very happy childhood memory.  Steve commented:

Carol, try re-reading Ratzenburger’s comments. He never said the stage fell apart. He said “when everything fell apart…”

“I was at Woodstock — I built the stage. And when everything fell apart,”

They did have to airlift fifty doctors (by helicopter) to care for the anti-industrialist tribes groveling in the mud. How ironic.

I recommend reading “Apollo and Dionysus” by Ayn Rand to understand the significance of Woodstock contrasted with the Apollo moon launch. Although these events took place just days apart in August 1969, they were light years apart ideologically. In a nutshell, it’s emotion vs. reason or Rousseau vs. Locke…

Today’s “liberal” or “progressive” was born in the primordial ooze at Woodstock. [Someone explain to me how tribalism is "progressive"?]

Today’s tea-partier, or NASCAR dad, would have been at the Moon launch. The Apollo moon launch represented the culmination of rational human intellect.

More than a million people went to Cape Canaveral. They left it as they found it. 300k went to Woodstock. They destroyed it and the surrounding farm like locusts.
For clarification, I am not the Carol that Steve is replying to.  Neither here nor there.  My memory is not of the Apollo launch but the moon landing   My parents threw one hell of a party that day.  We were so proud when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon.  I can feel the pride of that moment right now sitting on my porch almost forty-one years later.

My parents raised me to be proud of America's accomplishments and that while there is always more to be done, and we are far from perfect, the United States of American is by far the best country on this planet.  I learned from parents that the glass is always more than half full.  But progressive always see the glass as half empty.  They sweep aside the country's accomplishments and concentrate on what they perceive as failures.

Because progressives view America as a failure they strive to destroy rather than improve.  Health care is a perfect example.  Pretty much everyone agrees that there are problems with our health care system.  The way to solve a problem is to first decide what is working and what isn't.  Then you can build on what works and fix what doesn't.  Progressives want to destroy a system that 85 percent of us are happy with and start from scratch.  Conservatives want to concentrate on the problems while leaving the underlying structure that has worked so well in place.

I don't know how to address the pessimism that is so prevalent among progressives because I don't understand it.  My America is a country of tremendous accomplishment.  Sadly, progressives who have lived with the same advantages that I have had only see the negative.  I strongly suspect that if all that progressives wish for were to come to be, they would still see the glass as half empty.

Golden Words

This, my friends, is eloquence:

Speak for yourself, pussy. But how emblematic of liberal weakness and the odd, seemingly contradictory arrogance that is its ugly, constant companion: this worm is so gutless he even loathes himself for his boundless self-loathing, and he can’t imagine that other intelligent people might not be as inclined to wallow in the shallow cesspool of impotent futility as he is. It’s every bit as pathetic as it is contemptible. And it’s remarkable that so many people are drawn to such a weepy, adolescent world view, seeing as how the only thing it really has to offer is misery and despair — ie, limits.

I read the paragraph, paused, thought, and then read it again. The writer could be talking about anyone, or everyone, on the Left. True Progressives are a (thankfully) small minority in this country. A movement simply can’t “catch on” when it is comprised of individuals completely devoid of basic survival skills.

The unyielding belief in self preservation is unheard of and unthinkable among our Progressive brethren. The first tenant of unworthiness espoused by the Left is that no man is greater (though often lesser) than the lowest creature. Human exceptionalism is mocked by those who take to the streets to save a snail but scoff at the mere idea of saving an unborn child. The utter backwardness of the Progressive movement is breathtaking.

I think too highly of myself to ever be accepted by the Left. I’m proud of that.

Read the entire glorious post.

Planned Parenthood Director Chooses Life

Via Memeorandum:

From KBTX.Com:

Planned Parenthood has been a part of Abby Johnson's life for the past eight years; that is until last month, when Abby resigned. Johnson said she realized she wanted to leave, after watching an ultrasound of an abortion procedure.

"I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," said Johnson.

Could you watch an ultrasound of the baby pictured on the left as its life was taken from it? Could you watch as the instrument was plunged in to the baby's skull? The child to the left is shown at eighteen weeks gestation. The late Dr. Tiller plainly stated that he performed abortions right up until the due date.

I can't imagine what that moment must have been like when the full realization of what she had been a party to struck Abby Johnson. A Gallup Poll conducted in May of this year showed that for the first time since Gallup began asking the question in 1995 the majority of Americans, 51%, consider themselves "pro-life" as opposed to 42% who identify as "pro-choice". When broken out by political ideology the trend looks like this:

Clearly, both Conservatives and Moderates are turning away from abortion while Liberal support continues to run very high. Liberals simply do not place the same premium on children as Conservatives which in the long run means that Liberals lack of breeding will eventually put them out of business.

American Power has Ms. Johnson's story as well as a video.

Progressive Hate

Ask any "Progressive" and they will tell you that by virtue of their innate superiority and advanced state of enlightenment that their hate is entirely justified. In fact, they are actually taking the moral high ground when they hate.

I'm not talking about run of the mill hate. You know, the "BushHitler McChimpy" yada, yada stuff. Progressives tittered at all that but even they knew that it was amature. The pros operated on a much higher level. The best and brightest of the Progressives wrote articles, created games and made a movie fantasizing about the assassination of the President. This was all perfectly acceptable because they were endowed by their Creator to speak truth to the power.

As if they hadn't been embarrassed enough in the eyes of The World by the wretched Bush, up from the bowels of absolutely NoWhere, Alaska came a beauty queen who thought she was qualified to represent them? The woman had five children by the same man for goodness sakes! The Progressives had no choice but speak out. They couldn't possibly allow the French to believe that Sarah "Caribou Killer" Palin was representative of American women. Thank goodness for brave, liberated Sandra Bernhard who put that she-beast in her place!

That is the crux of the problem, isn't it? Those ill-informed, low life, redneck conservatives just don't know their station in life. If they would simply keep to themselves (and stop breeding) Progressives would be most happy to ignore them. Now, as if things could get any worse, there is a whole gaggle of conservative women who insist on expressing opinions! Honestly!

What will come of this country if women like this are allowed to speak out:

A Progressives' work is never done.
