CAIR Goes After Rifqa Bary's Christmas Cards

Via Memeorandum:

I wrote about Rifqa Bary, the seventeen girl who fled her family in Ohio after converting to Christianity. She had taken refuge with a Christian family in Orlando but the courts ordered her return to Ohio despite her testimony that her father was abusive and would kill her for leaving her family's Muslim faith. She has been living in foster care since her return while awaiting further hearings.

Her parents, through their CAIR attorney, put on a good show of professing their love for her and insisting that they would respect her Christain faith. Apparently that respect doesn't extend to allowing her to receive Christmas cards. The Jawa Report:

In a stunning development in the ongoing legal saga of Muslim-turned-Christian convert Rifqa Bary, the parents' attorney, Omar Tarazi, filed a motion with the Franklin County courts last week moving to ban on all Christmas cards being sent to Rifqa through her attorneys, and demanding the seizure from her of all Christmas cards that she might have already received. And yet her parents still make representations to the media that they intend to honor and respect her Christian faith, while their attorney files sealed motions stating that Christmas cards are "dangerous to her health and safety".

First, trying to deny their daughter Christmas cards is petty beyond belief. Claiming that they are dangerous to her health and safety is nonsense unless the attorney is referring to her father's threats. In any case, it should be clear to the court that Rifqa'a parents have no intention of respecting her religious choices.

The jail inmates in the Phoenix,AZ area asked the court recetly to stop the sherif from playing Christmas music as it was harmful to them. The court ruled against the inmates and said: on with the music.

The OH court shoul note this ruling.
