Risky Sex

Here’s one for the “you just can’t make this stuff up” file:

“Phase one of the study is intended to research "alcohol use/abuse and related sexual risk among FSWs (female sex workers) in China," according to the abstract -- a cold hard look at why prostitutes engage in dangerous sex while drunk.”

Yep, the U.S. taxpayers are footing the bill for a sex study in China. In fact, we are paying 2.6 million dollars for a study to determine the relationship between alcohol use and an increase in risky sexual behavior. I’ve always assumed that a willingness to engage in risky sexual behavior was a job requirement for anyone seeking employment in the prostitution field.

It doesn’t take a study to figure out that alcohol makes you feel good and lowers your inhibitions. Many a non-prostitute has woke up after a night of drinking and asked themselves “what was I thinking?”

Once the government has decided to throw away taxpayer money there usually isn’t much that can be done to dissuade them. However, I do have a suggestion. Instead of going all the way to China why don’t they just come down here to Florida during spring break? They’ll find examples of alcohol use and risky sexual behavior everywhere.
