Off to See an Old Friend

The other day I received an email at the email address that I set up for this blog. It started out, "Hi its Kara, remember me?"
I hated Florida when I first moved here. I was fresh out of college, newly divorced with two small children and I didn't know anybody except my parents and my great aunt.
Then on my first day of my first (real) grown up job I met Kara. She was working while her husband was in college. We went to lunch together and became best buds. We joined the bank's mixed softball team. Kara played second base and I played third. My kids were the bat boy and bat girl and Kara's husband would cheer us on from the stands.
Then her husband graduated and got a job in Dallas. We promised we would stay in touch but twenty-five years ago neither of us had email and eventually the letters petered out.
Long story short (yeah, I know), Kara and her husband have moved back to Florida. One day she was surfing the Conservative blogs online and viola! I'm off to spend New Years with Kara and her husband. I'll be back some time New Years day.
In the mean time:

A Wish for a Friend

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
Happy New Year,
Carolyn

It's so important to realize that every time you get upset, it drains your emotional energy.
