The hardest part of lying is keeping your story straight.
Who knew that "torture" would turn out to be the gift that just keeps giving for Republicans?
In just the past couple of weeks Nancy Pelosi has changed her story more times than a dog has fleas and she still can't get it straight. In the mean time, prodded by former Vice President Dick Cheney, Republicans are now calling for everything to be laid on the table. There is no way for the Dems to come out of this looking good.
William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection has a clear vision of where this will end up:
"Here's my prediction of what will happen if Democrats push the investigation to the bitter end causing damage to national security, a political death match with the CIA, and Democrat-on-Democrat finger pointing:
Stenny Hoyer, Speaker; Jane Harman, Majority Leader; Nancy Pelosi, Chair of the House sub-committee on fresh water fisheries; Republicans, unexpected gains in 2010 mid-term elections.
The Democrats wished hard for an investigation into waterboarding and other interrogation methods. They may have wished too hard, because they are about to get what they wished for, with no way out."
Forgive me if I am having a hard time stifling my laughter. The Dems were happy to sell out national security in order to sate the far left's blood lust for all things George Bush. Now they are learning that the price of naked partisanship is a bit higher than they wanted to pay.
